Rose Marass

AGE: 89 • Rumson

Rose Marass, 89, of Rumson, died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013. Born in South Amboy, she grew up in Red Bank before moving to Rumson in 1948. Rose worked at Newberry's in Red Bank, the Strand Theater in Red Bank, Bendix Corp. in Eatontown and her brother's deli, Chris's Deli. After God gave Rose the children she prayed for, she dedicated her life to being a homemaker and a mother. Rose was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Red Bank.

Rose was predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Marie DeFilippo; and brothers, Anthony, Frank and Peter DeFilippo. Surviving are her son, Robert Marass and his wife Edith of Rumson; her daughter, Rita Kellegher and her husband Michael of Neptune City; her brother, Chris DeFilippo of River Plaza; and sisters, Lucy Dyal of Tampa, FL and Mary Jo Green of Morganville, along with many nieces and nephews. Rose is also survived by the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Kevin Boden and his wife Tiffany, Michelle Solitro and her husband George, Kristin Boden, Matthew Marass and Daniel Boden.

Any who knew Rosie will know that she had a big heart, an infectious laugh and that she adored Engelbert Humperdink. She was his biggest fan. She loved all the family around when she would make her holiday dinners. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Gathering in celebration of her life from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, with a service beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank.
