Sam Delorenzo, 92, of Whiting, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in the early morning. Born in Italy, he resided in Whiting for more than 20 years. He worked as a chemist and was promoted to budget director of the medical group for Schering Pharmaceuticals, Bloomfield, before retiring in 1976 and also taught statistics at Seton Hall University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and proudly served his country in the Pacific during WWII.
Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Mary; his children, Deborah, Mark & Gregory; daughter-in-law, Kit; his sister-in-law, Mary DeLorenzo & many nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 13 at the Family Owned Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 66 Lacey Road, Whiting. Funeral mass will be at 10:45 a.m. Monday, April 14 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, Whiting. Burial will follow at NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
