William Calvin Chesnut, 85, of Fleming Island, FL, died Feb. 20, 2013, in Orange Park, FL. He was born Feb. 13, 1928 in Baltimore, MD. He retired as a Master Sergeant, E8, after 22 years of service from the U.S. Army, with the USA Satellite and Communications Department. He was decorated with a WWII Victory Medal and was in the U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Dept. of Merchant Marines. He moved to NJ and worked for Electronics Concepts Inc. in Eatontown as an Electrical Engineer for over 20 years. He retired from ECI and moved to Florida where he joined the Orange Park Police Advisory Commission and also earned a real estate license.
He was predeceased by his father, Gerald Stephen Chesnut; his mother, Anne (Masks) Chesnut; his brother, Gerald Chesnut Jr.; and a grandson, Nicholas William Chesnut. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wakako (Kay) Ishida; four daughters, Kathy and her husband Ray Wolf of Howell, Linda and her husband Dave Smith of Jackson, Karen and her husband Michael Richichi of Neptune City, Sharon and her husband Sammy Buonocore of Orange Park, FL; one son, Bill and his wife Cathy Chesnut of Neptune; 9 grandchildren, Ian, Tiffany, James, Brian, Sammy Jr., Lindsey, Joey, Corey and Dallas; 3 great-grandchildren, Mason, Brielle and Joseph Jr.; and a brother, Thomas Chesnut.
There will be a memorial service in the near future, not yet scheduled for family and friends in NJ.
