Loving father, grandfather, and friend, passed away in San Diego. He was born in Queens, NY, one of 6 children, son of Thomas and Mildred, and was a longtime resident of Asbury Park. He was a pioneer in the athletic scholarship placement industry by starting College Athletic Placement Service (CAPS) in 1971. In 1973, he placed the first female athlete scholarship at the University of Miami (FL). He later was interviewed on the NBC Today Show, and was featured on the cover of the Wall Street Journal. He attended University of Notre Dame, and later married Ruth Jean Brltton in 1950.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Jean; a sister, Joan; 3 children, Patricia Black, William Jr., and Bruce; two grandchildren, Nathan and Anabel; a step granddaugher, Shea O'Keefe; one great-grandson, Rocco; and a step great-grandson, Aidan.
He will be greatly missed by his family & friends, as well as those who benefitted from his guidance in the academic world.
