William Joseph Doheny

AGE: 99 • Red Bank

William Joseph Doheny, 99, of Red Bank, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 3, 1914 in Manhattan, NY and was raised in West New York, NJ. In 1975, he settled in Middletown and was currently residing in Red Bank. William was a decorated fireman for 27 years for the West New York Fire Department. He was also a proud U.S. Navy veteran, serving during WWII.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Mary (Comer) Doheny; his first wife, Estelle; his second wife, Madeline; his brothers, Thomas, Michael and John; his sisters, Catherine and Mae; and his sons, Frederick Nitting and John Massaro. William is survived by his loving children, Patricia Geissler and her husband Wayne of Hazlet, Henrietta Marotta of Port Monmouth, Sharon Miller of Red Bank, and William J. Doheny III and his wife Sandra of Lakewood, along with 6 cherished granddaughters, 5 adored grandsons, and 12 special great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Rt. 35 N, Hazlet. A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home during visiting hours. In respect of William's wishes, he will be privately cremated.
