James T. Maroney, 68, of Matawan, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2013. Born in Staten Island to James and Lillian Maroney, James lived in Staten Island until his move to Matawan in 1985. He proudly served our country as a Jet Mechanic in the Air Force during Vietnam. He worked as a NYC Police Officer for many years before working as a successful stock broker Vice President for Merill Lynch, with Saudia Arabia being his biggest account. James loved listening to music, especially Bob Dylan, gardening, woodworking, and was a great all around handyman.
James is predeceased by his father James Maroney. He leaves behind to carry on his legacy, his beloved wife Ellen Maroney; sons James, Joseph and Brian Maroney; daughters, Jacquelyn, Allison and Laura Maroney; granddaughter, Kayla Maroney; mother, Lillian Maroney; brothers, Timothy, Thomas, Dennis and William Maroney and sisters, Kathleen Smith, Marilyn Farley and Eileen Unrein.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Waitt Funeral Home, 501 Hwy 79, Morganville, NJ 07751. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Funeral Home on Thursday at 9am, followed by a 10am Mass at St. Clement Church in Matawan. Final disposition will be held privately.
