Olsen, A. Gordon
85, of Phoenix passed away on April 25, 2013. A Gordon Olsen, retired Phoenix attorney, passed on 4/25/13 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on 7/5/28 in Pittsburgh, PA where he lived until joining the Army and Navy. He graduated from Penn State University and later graduated from Fordham Law School in NY. While attending Fordham, Gordon worked at Macys in Times Square where he met Nancy Smith. Gordon and Nancy were married 3 weeks after meeting and remained married for 53 years until his death. Gordon and Nancy were determined to move to the Wild West. Gordon was a law clerk for Judge Phelps and in 1958 was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona. He worked with the firm of Lewis & Roca until his retirement in 1983. Gordon had a giant personality and commanded every room. After retiring, he passionately studied the Asian culture and visited the Orient often. He is predeceased by his beloved daughter Lisa and survived by his wife Nancy, son Lars, his "adopted" son and daughter, Jake and Beverly McManus, granddaughters Alysha Deal (Bryan), Kristin Lerch, Melissa McManus, great grandchildren, Sophia and Peyton, sister in law, Yvonne, nephew Robert Olsen (Leslie), nieces Debbie Olsen (Brad Nicholas), Nancy Schierbeck (David). Donations to may be made in Gordon's honor. A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be later named.
