Jones, A. Louise "Lou"
81, of Glendale, AZ passed away on December 24, 2012. Lou Jones was born on July 23, 1931 in Salem Illinois to Walter and Luella Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Lou graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Chicago. She worked as a courier nurse on the Santa Fe Railroad for several years before moving to Seattle. While there, she worked at Children'a Hospital and obtained a BSN from the University of Washington. She moved to the Phoenix area in 1968 and graduated from ASU with a MSN in 1971. She taught nursing at Phoenix College for over 20 years. After retiring, Lou put her love for children into her volunteer work. She was a teacher's aide for 19 years at Melvin E. Sine and Coyote Ridge Elementary Schools. She was a CASA volunteer for ten years and was volunteering at Arizonans for Children when she became ill. Lou will be remembered most for her loving nature and vibrant personality. Lou is survived by her partner of 43 years, Neva Johnson, her nephew Kenneth Jones and his wife Liz, Niece Linda Rulis, and her adopted family Susan Schoville, Derek and Katy Schoville, and Krysten and Ally. No services are planned. Lou's ashes will be interred in the Garden of Remembrance at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale. A Celebration of Lou's Life is planned for January 19, 2013.
