Polowski, Alexander Peter
95, of Tempe, Arizona entered into eternal rest on October 3, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona. He was born on July 30, 1918 in Port Austin, Michigan. Alex joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1938 and served during World War II. After his discharge he worked as an industrial electrician in New Jersey before moving to Arizona in 1960 where he worked for Goodyear Aerospace. The family moved to the Verde Valley where Alex worked for over twenty years at Phoenix Cement Plant and operated his own electric business, Oak Creek Electric. He raised his children with wife Dorothy and they were devout members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish in Cottonwood. Alex was an avid hunter and fisherman. Alex is survived by his children: Stephen Polowski and wife Kathleen and Jean Polowski-Reilly and husband Patrick; 4 grandchildren: Theresa, Matthew, Michael and Andrew Polowski. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy May Polowski and 8 brothers and sisters. Viewing will be at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2013, followed by the rosary at 10:45 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 E. Libra Drive, Tempe, Arizona 85283. Interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Ducks Unlimited: www.ducks.org.
