Alice C. O'Shaughnessy of Phoenix died on Thursday, 17 January 2013 at the age of 87. Alice was born April 20, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Calumet High School in 1942 and attended the University of Illinois 1942-45. She began her career with United Air Lines in 1945 as a Passenger Agent and, later, as a Stewardess 1949-51. She resumed her career in 1965 as a salesman and, later, as a licensed Broker and Office Manager for Wm. R. Schomburg, Inc, Homewood, IL. In 1984 Alice was appointed as a Field Representative with the Chicago Regional Office of the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, where she reported data used to compile the consumer price index, one of the nation's most important economic indicators. She is survived by her children, Alice Hoekstra (Wes) of Lansing, IL, Ann O'Connor (Mike) of Mesa, AZ, Christine O'Shaughnessy of Stafford, VA, Tom O'Shaughnessy (Nina) of Arlington, VA, and Jean White (Andy) of Akron, OH; sister, Jean Lennon of Joliet, IL, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. O'Shaughnessy; and son, James C. O'Shaughnessy. Funeral Services for Alice Marie O'Shaughnessy will be Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park.
