Goodenberger, Alton "Al" James
87, of Mesa passed away on April 30, 2014 after an extended illness. After serving in the Navy, Al graduated from Hastings College in Nebraska in 1950, and from McCormick Seminary in Chicago in 1953. He served as Pastor to five churches, including 13 years at Scottsdale Presbyterian Church. In retirement Al served several churches on an interim basis. Al loved his family, singing, camping, and working with wood. Al is survived by his wife Marilyn Goodenberger; children Jim, Bill, Steve, Bob, Ken Goodenberger, and Jeannie Cobb, and their spouses; 20 grandchildren, and 10 great-grand-children. Al is also survived by his brother, John L Goodenberger, and his sister Dorothy Mae Goodenberger. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 17, at Gilbert Presbyterian Church, 235 E Guadalupe Rd, Gilbert, AZ. Donations in memory of Al can be made to Heifer International (heifer.org).
