Amos A. Barcelona Obituary
Barcelona, Amos A.
86, of Glendale, AZ, went to be with the Lord on Sunday May 11, 2014 while hospitalized at Promise Hospital in Mesa after a long illness. Amos was born to Larkin and Mela Barcelona of Las Animas, Colorado on June 26, 1927. He is survived by his loving wife Loyda of 66 years, daughter Geri (Jim) Kessler of Lake Havasu City, AZ, son Dennis of Glendale, AZ, and sons Terry (Ginny), Gary (Mary), Gene (Cindy), Robert (Sue), and Scott, all of Colorado Springs, CO., six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and his sister Della of Canyon City, CO. Amos was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon and sons, Larry, Amos, Sam, and his sisters Naomi and Geneva. He served in the U.S. Army with pride for 22 years and was a Korean War Veteran. He also retired from Hewlett Packard as an engineer after 20 years of service. Amos loved fishing and being with family. He was a devoted husband, father and a friend to anyone he encountered. He helped many an individual who was less fortunate than himself. His sense of humor, great stories, gentle spirit, and abundance of love will be missed by all. He was one in a million and a diamond in the rough. His remains will be placed in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ at a later date. A Celebration of Life to be held Sat. May 17, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the family residence. To send condolences visit wwwchapelofthechimesmortuary.com
