Melzer, Arnold Rudolf Sr. "Dutch"
83, of Mesa & Apache Jct. passed away on Feb. 22, 2013. He was born in Seubersdorf, Germany (was Prussia, is now Poland) on 4-6-29 to Marie (Goetz) Melzer and Paul Melzer. He was a boy in Germany when WWII broke out; was captured by Russians and the English; came to the US after the war; became a US citizen and served as a Marine in the Korean conflict. He was a formally trained chef who opened the Mining Camp Rest many years ago. He also wrote short stories and had some work published in Reader's Digest. He is preceded in death by wife Betty Jo (Grammer) and leaves behind girlfriend Marilyn and his other family at Fam Care Home; children Monica Wadsworth-Seibel (Scott); Loretta Cassidy (Brian) and Arnold "Dooner" Jr (Carol). "Opa" loved his grandchildren Jennifer (Erin), Karie (Joel) and Jackson; and his 4 great-grandsons (Colin, Aiden, Brendan, Ryan). He also leaves behind brother Gerhardt & sisters Lori & Eva who still reside in Germany. A private memorial will be held at Mtn. View. No flowers or donations are needed. Dutch would rather that you save your money; put gas in your car, air in your tires, feed the birds, & have a glass of wine (only one) in his honor. We miss you daddy!
