Barbara "Billie" Kendree passed away peacefully on February 24, 2013. Born on
December 14, 1923 in Kansas City to Arthur and Jesse Daniel, she was 89. Until a severe stroke suffered in October 2011 significantly curtailed her physical abilities Billie had lived a wonderfully happy and active life, the past 11 years at Westminster Village in Scottsdale, AZ with her husband of 59 years. Earlier in life, after graduating from Northwestern University in Chicago, Billie was a physical therapist in Kansas City and San Francisco helping victims of Polio in 1949 and early 50's. She married U S Army Capt. Ulmont "Al" Kendree in 1953.
In 1965, after a couple of years of Army life, and a few years of moving with Al's new job once out of the Army, Billie and her young family moved to Monte Sereno CA. This is where she and Al lived for 32 years. Together they raised a family, Billie volunteered at a local hospital, both were active in church and civic organizations, and enjoyed friends and travel.
In 1997, after Al's retirement, they moved to Scottsdale to be close to family. Billie continued to volunteer at local hospitals, kept up with old friends, met new friends, traveled, played bridge, watched sports, and was active at church.
Billie was a strong, caring, woman of Faith. She accepted life's challenges without complaining, and lived life to its fullest. She was loved by many, she will be missed, and will remain in our hearts forever.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur J. and Jesse C. Daniel, and is survived by her loving husband, Al Kendree, daughter and son-in-law Linda and Steve Mendivil of Oak Park, CA, son and daughter-in-law Dan and Kathy Kendree of Tempe, AZ, and six grandchildren: Courtney, Carrie, and Anna Mendivil, and Sam, Amy, and Erica Kendree. The life of Billie Kendree was celebrated at a family memorial service earlier this week. Those wishing to honor her memory may contribute to the Westminster Village Foundation / Assistance Fund 12000 N 90th Street Scottsdale, AZ 85260
