To the family of Mr. Keane, my heart goes out to you. My husband and I were so sad to hear of his passing. We looked for and read his comic strip every day for years as we had our morning coffee before heading to work. We loved it and it always brought a smile to our faces. The drawings were so cute and funny. This week we got the news of his passing and our paper said there would be no more publication. That made us very sad. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We never got to meet Bil Keane but we feel like we know a part of him through his work. All we can say is how much joy he brought to us in that moment every morning. I'm sure Bil must be in heaven right now. Thank you Bil for the little piece of sunshine you gave me. May God bless your family.

As far back as I can remember, Bil's Family Circus was my most checked out books at the Phoenix Public Library when it was on McDowell and Central Ave now where the Phoenix Art Musuem stands. As a teenager, I began collecting the books and today, at 28, I am just a few books shy of the entire collection. I cherish Bil and his work. His family values and the fact that he was living in PV, Arizona, made me feel connected to him and his family. I am very sad at the passing of Bil and will continue to search for the rest of the titles I am missing to complete my collection. So that one day, I too, can share The Family Circus with my children. Rest in Peace and thanks for all the fun memories!

In July 1992, I was on a plane from Washington to Phoenix, when I noticed a gentleman sitting across the aisle from me drawing on many small squares of paper. Immediately recognizing the images, I asked if he were the cartoonist of The Family Circus…, and he said yes!! I asked him to draw one square dedicated to the Graham Family. He was so cordial and agreed at once, and I was so happy that he did so. My eldest son took the cartoon and had it framed for us! It has been on the wall and a cherished part of our family ever since!

We have continued to love the strip, and I have admired the skill of both artists, father and son. I am most grateful that the cartoon will continue under Jeff's talented hand... his father will live on for many more years because of this wonderful inherited ability to show us the way of life "through Keane eyes."

Thank you for so much!

Our family loves yours and a suitable incident may remain on the refrigerator door for months. Jeff; please keep the family coming into our homes. We need you more than ever. Your family and ours may grieve over the loss of your father; but his cartoons with "grandpa" show the reality and happiness I'm sure he is experiencing now.

Dear Keane family,
I am crying as I write this message of sympathy to you. When I retired from teaching , I wrote a fan letter to your Dad telling him how much his cartoon meant to me. The Family Circus is the greatest cartoon ever. When I worked, it was the one thing in the paper that I read every day. I'd cut the cartoons out to keep for "just the right time", and I always had a spot on my 'Student Information Board' for "The Family Circus" which was greatly enjoyed by the students. The cartoon gave us hope,a feeling that we are not alone, and it provoked many conversations and much thought. Now as a grandmother, I share the cartoons with my grandchildren.
Your father brought so much happiness and peace into this world with his talent . Jeff, I hope that you can keep the cartoon going. The world needs all the comfort, peace, and happiness that the cartoon embodies.
I am so sorry for your loss of your wonderful father. May God bless your entire family.

i will never forget the time when Uncle Bil came into our classroom in 2nd grade at St Pats school in kennett aquare,pa. he drew the family circus on the blackboard and the nuns left it up for weeks! no one was allowed to erase the blackboard! Years later, Uncle bil came to my wedding and when the guests found out that Bil Keane was at the wedding...needless to say they were thrilled. In my home, i have so many cartoons to treasure signed personally to me and my family. when we were little we would be so thrilled and excited to know that Uncle Bil was coming to town.. it was right up there with christmas morning as a little kid! May God bless and keep my cousins on the west . of all the cartoons in the world, i do believe that God really enjoyed and delighted in the Family Circus! sincerely, with love always, colleen and lewis hart and family (tom's daughter)

Thank you for your service to our country in our time of need! Your gentle forbearance and patience to your family is revealed in your iconic "monocartoon". I was born in 1962 and "Family Circus" has been as integral to my experience growing up as Coca-Cola and the American flag. Mr Keane created an American icon and I always look forward to seeing what this timeless family is up to each week! I identified with PJ, Jeffy, Billy and Dolly as a child and continue to identify with them while raising my own children. We will miss Mr. Keane's wonderful purity of life and family.

My family and I attended St. Maria Goretti Parish in Scottsdale. One Sunday, our son Mike, was serving as an Altar Boy for the very first time. Sitting next to us in that first pew was Bil Keane. Mike was the Cross Bearer and when he got to the altar the stand he was to place it in was missing. The Knight's of Columbus had moved it before Mass and forgot to put it back! Mike stood there, flummoxed and nervous, but poised - eventually one of the Knight's figured out why this young altar boy was standing so still holding the crucifix - and came to the rescue with "the stand." By the time Mass was over, Bil had sketched Mike - in his beloved Family Circus style, with the words, "Good job serving today, Mike!" It is framed and enjoys a place in our home to this day. Mike is now a college grad and was back in AZ last week for our daughter's wedding - and it was Mike who told me of Bil's death - such a small act of kindness continues to touch our family so many, many years later. May our dear Lord console you - and your memories and stories sustain you - as you live on in Bil's love.
Sincerely,

To the family of Bil Keane,

When I was an executive at the National Catholic Educational Association, Bil attended our annual conventions on occasion. I remember how gracious he was in drawing cartoons for those who requested them. I will never forget the one he drew for my daughter when she was critically ill. Thank God she is finally well today and the mother of three children. She always says how much his thoughtfulness meant to her as it still does to me and my family.God Bless you Bil

To The Bil Keane Family,

I don't know Keane's Family, but one thing I understand and know that to loss a love one in death is hard on any Family.

The Bible tells us at Isaiah 29:8.9 that death will be swallowed up and there will be no more tears. May your Family, have comfort and peace.
