Brasted, David Humphrey
76, of Ajijic, Mexico, formerly of Wichita, KS passed away on December 29, 2013. Mr. Brasted retired in 1985 as Executive Vice President of Mid Kansas Federal Savings and Loan Association and President of Amarado Investment Company. Mid Kansas Federal was co-founded by Mr. Brasted's grandfather, Arthur R. Brasted, in 1934 and had been managed by the Brasted family since that time. Mr. Brasted subsequently became a principal in Gaudreau-Brasted Properties, a Residence Inn hotel franchisee that developed a dozen Residence Inn hotels throughout the Midwest and Southeast. He also founded Morfacts Mortgage Application Center, a residential real estate mortgage brokerage service, the Brasted Company, a commercial mortgage brokerage firm, and Professional Products of Kansas, a water sealant and graffiti-removal products company. Throughout his life, Mr. Brasted was active in numerous civic, political and philanthropic organizations. He was the state Finance Chairman for Senator Nancy Landon Kassebaum during her 1978 campaign. He served on the Board of Directors of the Wichita Association of Homebuilders, Greater Downtown Wichita, the Wichita Club, Family Consultation Service, Historic Wichita, the Urban League and the Wichita Council for Community Development. Additionally, Mr. Brasted was a Trustee for Plymouth Congregational Church and was a long-time member of the Wichita Board of Realtors, Rotary Club and the Wichita Country Club. He graduated with a B.S. in Economics from Beloit College, WI, in 1960, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Challinor of Scottsdale, AZ, and Barbara (Scott) Wait of Town and Country, MO., his brothers Kenneth P. Brasted, II and J.Q. (Skip) Brasted, both of Wichita, and grandchildren Samuel Wait, Elizabeth Wait and Martha Wait. Mr. Brasted was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth P. Brasted, Sr., and Lulu (Humphrey) Brasted. Services will be held at Plymouth Congregational Church in Wichita, KS on Monday, January 20th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Brasted's name to the Wichita Art Museum or a .
