Obituary Condolences

David Richmond Frost Obituary
Frost, David Richmond
David Richmond Frost passed away June 29, 2013, in Scottsdale, Arizona. David was born in Douglas, Arizona, December 17, 1931, to Beatrice (nee Lange) and James (Jack) Frost. Lee Charlotte Frost (nee Caldwell), his wife of 60 years, predeceased him in 2011, as did his younger sister Marian Townsend. He is survived by his sister Anne Nicol, his children Darrel Richmond Frost, Mary Beth Frost Weitzel and Judi Frost Mackey, and their spouses, and his adored and adoring granddaughters Marian Lea Frost and Erin Olivia Mackey. He will also be missed by his brothers in law, cousins, nieces and nephews, and his friends, many of whom are Phoenix area musicians. David was known for his intellect, wit, gentle nature, devotion to his family and friends, his love of reading everything, especially mysteries and Oz books, and his musical talent. Although he won an academic scholarship to Harvard, he chose to stay close to home, where he majored in music at Arizona State University. He was a computer software engineer by day for such companies as General Electric and Honeywell, and was a musician by night, for his entire career. He enjoyed playing piano, clarinet, the sax and flute for any type of music or event, and conducting at the Encanto Band Shell on many summer nights. He is probably best remembered by friends and family for Christmas gatherings, where he played piano for caroling, all without sheet music. David's family enjoyed their cherished time with him during summer family car trips all over the US when he took pride in calling out the names of the mountains and pointing out "blue" flowers, body surfing at Pacific beach in San Diego, family reunions, and listening to Mozart or Mariachi. Visitation will take place Tuesday, July 2, 5 - 8 pm at Hansen Desert Hills Chapel, 6500 East Bell Road, Scottsdale, AZ, 85254. The funeral and burial will take place Wednesday, July 3, at 9 am, also at Hansen Desert Hills Chapel followed by a reception in North Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance, www.firstfoodbank.org Please visit www.hansenmortuary.com to place online condolences.
