Kehl, Delmar George (Del)
passed away on February 7, 2014. Del was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and loyal friend. Del had an unwavering faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ and lived it out in all his endeavors. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wanda, sons Kevin (Kathie) and Kenyon (Josette), and 5 grandchildren. Del was born on the family farm in Carroll County, Illinois, the youngest of 6 children. After completing a bachelor's degree, he received his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received a Ph.D. in American Literature from USC. He taught in the English Department at Arizona State University for 40 years. He also served as the director of freshman composition and was on numerous graduate degree committees. More recently he held the position of Professor Emeritus at ASU. Del was on several boards including Community Ministries International, In Touch Mission International, and associate editor of the academic C.S. Lewis journal, Sehnsucht. Other publications include Literary Style of the Old Bible and the New (ed.), Poetry and the Visual Arts, Control Yourself!: Practicing the Art of Self-Discipline, Years of Grace and Grit, Jack Lewis and His American Cousin, Nat Hawthorne, as well as numerous articles for scholarly journals. Del loved to read, travel, teach and spend time with family. A private burial will be held at Paradise Memorial Gardens and a public celebration of Del's life will be held on Saturday, February 15th, at Scottsdale Bible Church Chapel (7901 E.
