Churchill, Dennis J.
65, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 after a battle with Esophageal Cancer, stemming from Agent Orange used in the Vietnam War. Dennis was born on January 24, 1949, in Janesville, WI to the late James Churchill and late Catherine "Lorraine" Swirgsdin (Cooper). Dennis ("Den") was a 1967 graduate of Janesville High School. He served with distinction in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was awarded The Bronze Star. Because of his work within Army Intelligence, he was then stationed in Germany on a special assignment. Den worked in loss prevention with several retail stores throughout his life. He had a wonderful way with people, and his sense of humor seemed to make a friend out of any stranger. He had an incredible memory, with the gift of recalling dates and numbers. His memory could recall any day of his life dating back to his toddler years. His strong will and memory held strong right up through the day of his passing. Den's passions were traveling, golfing, and following many sport teams as well as attending as many games as possible. Dennis is survived by his sisters, Diane (Don) Lonze of Kissimmee, FL, Heidi (Frank) Jonczyk of Janesville, WI, Ginny Swirgsdin of Janesville, WI, his nieces and nephews, and his dear friends, Donna Churchill, Tom Gender and Pam Euckerman. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. There will be no public services, at his request. His family will celebrate his life with a private service on a future date. All condolences may be sent to his family at, 4417 White Oak Dr., Janesville, WI 53546.
