87, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2012 in Scottsdale, AZ. Don served in the United States Marine Corps in the Asiatic Pacific Theater in WWII. He was a radio operator and participated against the enemy at Saipan, Tinian, Marianas Islands, Okinawa and the Ryukyu Islands. After the war, Don worked for Professional Management Midwest in Kansas City and later in Phoenix, Arizona. After retirement he owned and operated Smith Consulting Tax business. In retirement he enjoyed golf, NFL football and NBA Basketball. Don was preceded in death by his sons Mark and Mike. He is survived by the love of his life Betty, his wife of 50 years, daughter Nancy Chance (Mark), son David Hill (Bonnie), and grandson Kyle Hill. A private family service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. The family requests any tributes for Don to be made in contributions to
or Wounded Warrior Project.
