Dorathea Pauline (Neumann) Hearl, of Scottsdale, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 at the age of 98. Dorathea was born in Brooklyn, New York to Cathryne and Charles Neumann. She traveled with her parents to many foreign countries as a young girl. She was a graduate of Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn, New York and Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in Manhattan, New York. After graduation she worked as a secretary for many years. She was a USO and Red Cross volunteer during WWII. Dorathea was married for 50 years to Hilton J. Hearl who predeceased her in 1999. Before moving to Arizona almost 60 years ago, Dorathea and Hilton lived in Cleveland, Ohio. Dorathea was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for 50 years in Scottsdale where she had many special friends. She was active with her husband Hilton in B.P.O.E. Elks and El Zaribah Shrine. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and caring for her cats. Dorathea is survived by her daughter Susan Stoneburg, son-in-law Cal Stoneburg II and grandson Cal Stoneburg III. Dorathea will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
