Chambers, Dwight Gray
Dwight Gray Chamber, 69, passed away May 30, 2014 at the VA Puget Sound Medical Center in Seattle Washington with his family by his side following a 14 month journey back from a tragic skiing accident. Dwight was born on March 22, 1945 to Walter and Glenice Chambers in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated from Glendale Union High School in 1967. Dwight received a degree in Forestry from Northern Arizona University, graduating in 1967. He financed that education by working summers as a Smokejumper based in Missoula, Montana. Later, Dwight earned his Masters Degree from Michigan State University. After graduation from NAU, Dwight entered Officer Candidate School for the U.S. Marine Corp. He became a Marine pilot flying the T-38 Talon and the A-4 Skyhawk .Upon discharge in 1971, Dwight returned to Montana where he embarked on a 40 year career with the US Forest Service, retiring in Helena. While working in Libby, Montana, Dwight met and married JoAnn Griffith in 1973. Dwight was active in his community and church. He served as T-ball coach, cub scout leader, soccer coach, youth group chaperone, and participated in various service projects. He was recently honored by the National Ski Patrol organization for 30 years of volunteer ski patrol service. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents and his cousin David Williams and Jim Chapman. Dwight is survived by his wife Jo Ann, sons Beau (Jenna ) of Maple Valley, WA; Cameron of Seattle, WA; daughter Mariah of Camarillo, CA; grandchildren Hudson and Beckett Chambers, brother John Chambers (Marge), sister Cheryl Chambers and many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
