Edgar Ansten, 96, of Paradise Valley, Ariz., passed away on October 31. Born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1917, he survived the Holocaust and was able to secure passage to Shanghai, where he remained for eight years with his older brother Max until he was able to immigrate to the United States after the war. In San Francisco he met the woman who would become is wife and constant companion for 63 years. They lived in Paradise Valley for over 50 years, rarely leaving each other's side and started a successful business together, which they operated for more than 30 years. Edgar enjoyed more than anything just spending time with his family. Edgar is survived by his wife Marian Ansten of Paradise Valley, his daughters Judy (Steven) Schwartz of Scottsdale and Deborah Bond of Phoenix, and five grandchildren Michael and Tammy Schwartz and Sarah, Lauren and Jennifer Bond. A memorial service was held November 4th at Sinai Mortuary.
