Dietterle, Edwin
Edwin William Dietterle of Sun City, Arizona passed away August 18, 2014. Ed was born April 6, 1913 in Roberts, Illinois, son of Alfred and Carrie Dietterle. He was preceded in death by his sister Loretta Dietterle and his first wife Rosemary. Ed is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughter Suzette Whitcher, son Robert, and step-son Roger Rhodes. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Ceramic Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1936. During his working career, he served as West Coast Sales Manager for Ferro Corporation. He was elected to the rank of "Fellow" in the American Ceramic Society in 1958. Ed also served as Captain in the Army during World War II. Upon retirement, Ed moved from North Hollywood, California to Sun City, Arizona. He was very active in St. Clement of Rome Parish and elected Chairman of the Parish Council in 1990. He was a golfing member of the Palmbrook Country Club and selected as Member of the Year in 1996. A visitation and rosary will be held Friday, August 22, 2014 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Sunland Mortuary Lakeside Chapel, 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, August 23, 2014 at St. Clement of Rome Parish; 15800 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ. Ed will be placed at his final resting place at Sunland Memorial Park at a later date. Ed was the guiding light for the family, always sharing his love, advice, dedication, and religious example.
