Lakatos, Eugene (Papa) Alexander
88, of Chandler passed away on October 20, 2013. A loss of another member of the greatest generation, he was a veteran of WWII, the Korean conflict, and Vietnam. Gene received a Bachelor's degree at the University of Arizona, and his Master's degree at Northern Arizona University. Beside his military career, Gene was also a Soils Research Scientist for the University of Arizona, an entrepreneur in a joint venture with his wife, Phyllis, in their business Granny Rents Baby Equipment, and most recently a Para-Educator at Chandler High School. Known to his children as dad, his grandchildren as PAPA, his great grandchildren as PAPA Gene and his extended family at Chandler High as Mr. L. All who came into contact with him were always impressed with his positive outlook on life and his strong faith that God is loving and loves to answer prayer. The two most common words people use to describe him are "KIND and A GENTLEMAN." His brilliant intellect and caring nature will be missed and never forgotten by the lives he touched. LAKATOS, Eugene Alexander Born Dayton Ohio, Nov. 21, 1924 went to our Lord Oct. 20, 2013. His loving wife Phyllis preceded him in death. Survived by: his son Philip (Joyce Ann), his daughters Joyce (Roger Fiederlein) and Gayle (Joseph Salazar), his grandchildren Christina (Philip), Daniel and Kimberly (Joyce and Roger), Thomas and Joshua (Gayle and Joseph), his great grandchildren Christopher, Joshua, William, Elizabeth (Christina and Jeff), Vincent, Samuel and Kaitlin (Daniel and Carolyne). Memorial Service held at Legacy Funeral Home Chandler from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Oct. 23.
