Pitts, Geneen Richardson
69, of Mesa passed away on December 29, 2013 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 24, 1944, in the home of her grandmother in Ferron, Utah, to Grant and Kathleen Richardson. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Steven James Pitts, and their seven children, Jared (Jan) Pitts, Michelle (Pacer) Udall, Catherine (Todd) Taylor, Sterling (Deborah) Pitts, Sean (Mary) Pitts, Danielle (Caleb) Overbay, Spencer (Jami) Pitts and 30 grandchildren. She was raised with her five siblings in Tempe, Arizona, where she attended Tempe Union High School and Arizona State University. She became a teacher after she married and taught at Kyrene Elementary and then at Emerson Elementary until she retired in 2005. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served with devotion in many capacities. Most importantly she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. In her later years, she was completely dedicated in her role as grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her. A viewing will be held Friday, January 3, 2014, at the Westwood LDS Church Building in Mesa, 848 N. Westwood, from 6 to 8 PM. Services will begin 10 AM January 4, 2014, at the Westwood LDS Church Building. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to be made to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund.
