74, passed away on May 29, 2014 at Chandler Regional Hospital in Chandler, Arizona. He was born on May 13, 1940 in Bismarck, ND as the oldest child of Albert and Hazel Pederson. Jerry grew up on the family farm in rural Steele, ND. He graduated from Steele High School in Steele, ND in 1958. After high school he attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND and then North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. Jerry was a journalist for numerous newspapers in his lifetime beginning with the Bismarck Tribune, the Fargo Forum, and the Rapid City Journal. Jerry then worked for World Changers, Inc. in the mid 1970's where he was able to work with his loving wife, Norma. Norma and Jerry then opened a small business selling office supplies. In 1987 Jerry took a job with The Home Depot in California. He worked for them in California and Arizona until his retirement in 2003. Jerry married Norma Jones in 1963 in Wahpeton, ND. They were happily married for 51 years. Jerry was a life-long member of The Elks. He enjoyed working with youth. Jerry was a long time little league coach and a former President of Harney Little League Baseball in Rapid City, SD. Jerry was proud to have coached his children and grandchildren as they grew up playing baseball. Throughout his adult life Jerry has been active in his church. An Episcopalian, Jerry served several parishes as a member of the vestry including Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Rapid City, SD and the Church of the Epiphany in Tempe, AZ. He also enjoyed singing in the choir. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Hazel, and two of his brothers, Melvin and Garry. Jerry is survived by his wife Norma of Chandler, Arizona; his sons Todd (Stacie) Pederson of Chandler, Arizona and Timothy (Paula) Pederson of Rapid City, SD, and his daughter Jana (David) Zinkel of Phoenix, Arizona. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tyler Shoemaker, Jessica Pederson, Jarrod Pederson, Christopher Pederson, Christian Redl, Aaron Redl, Jordan Redl, Justin Pederson, Cassandra Redl, Justin Zinkel, and Krista (Bryan) Marx. Jerry had one great grandson Carter Marx. Jerry is also survived by his sister Sandra (Cordell) Lehr of Jamestown, ND, his sister Jeanne (Carlotta) (Robert) Merrill of Gold Canyon, AZ, his brother Harlo (Jeannine) Pederson of Mesa, AZ, his brother Allen (Sue) Pederson of Casselton, ND, and his brother Kelvin of Moorhead, MN, his special Aunt Tootsie Heinz of Steele, ND and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A requiem mass will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany at 2222 South Price Road, Tempe AZ 85282 on Saturday June 7, 2014 at 11 am.
