Gerald Ray Allen, Sr., 65 years of age of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on October 3, 2013. He was born on August 17, 1948 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Wallace R. and Lillian Allen. Both parents, a sister and two brothers have proceeded him in death. He was united in marriage with Sandra K. Allen on August 3, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they have four grown children. He attended the Solomon M. Coles High School and graduated in 1966. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force in which he traveled and enjoyed the world. In 2000 he became the first African American in the Arizona Air National Guard history to reach the top of the enlisted rank structure as Chief Master Sergeant. He was a member of the 161st Air National Guard since 1973. His entire career has been in the air craft maintenance area and was assigned as an aircraft mechanic supervisor. He retired on December 31, 2002. He leaves to cherish his memories, wife of 33 years Sandra K. Allen of Phoenix, sons Gerald R. Allen, Jr and Christopher M. Pantin; daughters Tonya and Tracy Allen all in Phoenix; a daughter in law, Amber Pantin, two brothers, Lawrence and Rueben Allen of Corpus Christi, Texas and eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild and his dog Bronson. Memorial Services, Friday, October 11, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Best Funeral Services, located at 9380 W. Peoria Ave., Peoria, AZ Interment, Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 2:00PM at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ.
