Ginny "Virginia" Reinken Obituary
Reinken, Ginny (Virginia)
passed away on September 4, 2013 at 79 in Scottsdale, AZ after a shot illness. She was born in Batavia, IL on December 5, 1933, where she lived with her grandparents, parents, aunt and two sisters for 21 years. Ginny earned her bachelor's degree at Northern Illinois University in 1955. After graduation and marriage, she moved to El Paso, TX in 1955 as an Army wife where she taught her first year in business education. The couple moved to Scottsdale in June, 1956 where she pursued her education by earning her master's degree from Arizona State University in 1958. She loved teaching and continued to teach 27 years at Scottsdale High and 23 years at Coronado High School, retiring in 2006, probably having taught over 10,000 teenagers in her 51 - year teaching career. She also loved music, reading, movies, food, close friends and family, her cats and Scottsdale Ascension Lutheran Church where she was a member since 1956. She is survived by her sisters Darlene Larson (Richard) and Marcia Baresel (Russell), her nieces and nephews and many friends. A memorial service will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church, 7100 N. Mockingbird Lane, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253 on Saturday, September 14th at 1:00PM. Burial will be in the family plot in Batavia, IL at a later date. Donations may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, music program.
