Dodson, Glen Russell, 89, of Mesa, AZ passed away on Oct 22, 2013. He was born in Niangua, Missouri April 6th, 1924, the youngest son of Melvin and Alma (Crawford) Dodson. Glen was the youngest and is preceded by his 2 sisters and 4 brothers Marie, Myrtle, Ervin (Shorty), Bill, Bob and Gene. Glen enlisted in the Army on 30 Oct 1945 and was Honorable Discharged 6 Dec 1946. His Military Occupational Specialty was as Truck Driver Heavy 931. He was decorated with Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and a Philippine Independence Ribbon. sell, Kenneth and Wayne (Buck). Glen worked as a Barber until 1971 when he went back to school to pursue his life's dream. He graduated with honors with a Master of Arts in Art Education from Arizona State University, working as an Art Teacher until his retirement. In his life Glen pursued many interests: painting, drawing, silver smithery, lapidary, hunting, fishing, camping. Glen is survived by Norma his loving wife; Russell, Eugenie, Kenneth, Laura, Wayne (Buck), Leslie his three sons and their wives, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Sunday at 10:00 AM at Meldrum Mortuary 52 N. Macdonald, Mesa,
AZ, 85201, Phone 480-834-9255. For those wishing, instead of flowers donations can be made to Sun Valley Hospice or Honor Flight for WWII veterans wishing to go to the WWII Monuments in Washington D.C.
