Obituary Condolences

Ocvirek, Ida Olga
Ida Ocvirek, 81, passed away on December 18, 2013. She was born May 20, 1932 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Denis and Victoria David, who preceded her. Ida was an adored wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Survivors include her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Frank J. Ocvirek, daughters Denise Ball, Victoria Sterling, and Carolyn Ocvirek, granddaughters Jennifer Ball and Elizabeth Ball, and her brother, Peter Drozda. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Paul David. Ida, along with her parents, left Alberta, Canada and made their home in Welland, Ontario, Canada. In her early years, she worked as a secretary at Welland, Ontario City Hall. She also enjoyed social gatherings and dancing at St. Mary's Young People's Club. In June of 1954, Ida married Frank Ocvirek and resided in Comstock, Michigan for a number of years until settling in Tempe, Arizona in 1961. After the move to Arizona, Ida worked at Sears Roebuck Store as a credit representative. She also worked at Arizona State University in the Admissions Department. After that, Ida was a homemaker and raised her three daughters with Frank. She very much enjoyed cooking, sewing, and taking care of her children and grandchildren. Ida was passionate about her Hungarian heritage as well as her faith as a Catholic. She took pride in the elegant Afghans that she crocheted and the beautiful Last Supper needlepoint that she stitched. She spoke fondly of the travels she would make with Frank across the United States and Canada to visit friends and family during the summer time. Ida will be remembered for being kind, generous, and loving. She will be greatly missed. Ida will be laid to rest at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
