passed away April 14, 2014. Born in Iowa in 1925, Jack was educated at Grinnell and University of Iowa. He was a Korean Army Veteran and taught school in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In 1960 he moved to Phoenix, taught English and served as a librarian at West High School. He moved to Glendale Community College in 1963 to teach and served there until his retirement. In 2002 he received a Distinguished Alumni Award from Iowa City. The award was for his classroom work in Cedar Rapids, mainly because he introduced studies in Black Literature and History at a very early time. He died thankful that the long trip was over. No services are scheduled.
