September 10, 1939 - May 16, 2014. James was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He died at Ryan's House facility in Phoenix, Arizona on May 16, 2014, at age 74. James is survived by his wife (Janet), 3 children, 17 grandchildren, and 3 sisters. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon, and sister, Judy.
James was actively involved in the church and thoroughly enjoyed being a father and grandfather. He bravely served in the air force for 4 years, and then worked as a drafting supervisor for 35 years at Salt River Project. James was diagnosed with late stage prostate cancer in 2013. The battle was tough, but he never gave up. He maintained a brave and cheerful outlook of an optimistic future - even through the pain. Even as the illness became more prominent, he continued to love his children and grandchildren and was actively involved in their lives.
Filled with compassion and interest in others, James made friends easily and maintained contact with many. He instilled a feeling of love, joy, and pure happiness in all who he even briefly came into contact with. We may have a lost an essential part of our family, however, we have gained a true guardian angel to watch over and protect us until, one day, we all meet again. The memorial service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 10am at North Hills Church in Phoenix, Arizona. The church's address is 15025 N. 19th Ave., and is located on the southeast corner of 19th Avenue and Greenway Rd.
