Thompson, James Evans
James Evans (Red Dog) Thompson passed away on Feb. 16, 2013 in Phoenix, at the age of 66. Born on May 2, 1946 in Milwaukee WI, he was the first child of Roy H. and Elaine Thompson. He grew up in Peshtigo, WI, and graduated from high school in 1964. Jim then attend WSU-Whitewater from 1964 to 1966, during which time he also enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard. In 1967 he transferred to Arizona State University, from which he graduated in 1971. Upon graduation he was then accepted to the Univ. of Miami Law School, from which he graduated 1973. After a number of apprentice positions, he started his own law practice in Phoenix, AZ. Continuing with his National Guard service, he transferred to the Arizona National Guard. Jim was an avid recreationalist and outdoorsman, pursuing golf, watersports, horseback riding, fishing, and hunting with his dogs. Most important was camaraderie with his great friends, whom he loved as much as they loved him. Also a devoted Green Bay Packers fan, he was a proud legitimate attendee of the 1967 Lambeau Field "Ice Bowl" Packer victory. Jim is survived by a daughter Tina Lawrence of Chandler, son-in-law Charles (Spike), and grandchildren Lindsay and Tori. He is also survived by younger brothers Gary G., and Thomas R.
