Adair, James (Jim) Leslie Jr.
89, of Chandler, AZ gently passed away on February 20, 2014 with his loved ones by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Alice Flores Adair, his son Joe Adair (Kathy), daughter Linda Adair Bauer (Larry), step-son Robert Bruce Butler (Carol), grandchildren Whitney Vandermark Vining (Tony), Ryan Bauer, Anna Adair Berry (Craig), James Adair, step-grandchildren Shawn Butler and Stacy Butler, and sister Pita Adair Tricomo. Jim is preceded in death by his step-son John Eric Butler, his parents James L. Adair, Sr. and Bonnie Buchanan Adair, his brother Joe Dorse Adair, and his sister Lois Adair Lunceford. Originally from Caruthersville, Missouri, Jim graduated from high school in 1943 and went directly into the Army to proudly serve his country in the Philippines during World War II. During that time he was in the 161st Infantry as a Staff Sergeant and Rifleman Specialist who earned two Bronze Stars. Jim's experience during those three years resulted in many hours of detailed stories describing his perils and adventures of the war that helped frame the adult he became. In Missouri, Jim owned an IGA Grocery Store and was an active civic leader in the Rotary Club and Methodist Church. In 1968, he moved to Arizona to start a new business which would become Adair Air Conditioning Company, servicing the valley for 45 years. Due to his varied business knowledge and his keen ability to work with people, Jim became a mentor to several young entrepreneurs who credit him with helping them reach success. Jim lived life to the fullest. He was an avid fisherman, loved to camp, and spent most of his time outdoors. His greatest loves were his family - wife, children, grandchildren - and friends. He was a good and loving man and a role model for all who were fortunate enough to come in contact with him. Jim's family would like to thank all of the caregivers and 3rd floor staff (especially Clarissa and Nick) at Sunrise of Gilbert for the special care they gave him. There will be a Celebration of Jim's Life on March 15, 2014 at East Calvary Christian Church, 20 E Page Ave, Gilbert, AZ 85234 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to , Desert Southwest Chapter, 1028 E McDowell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85006-2662.
