Passed away peacefully, at age 80, December 31, 2013. Jean was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and your friend for life. She was a strong Christian woman and her kindness and giving spirit always brought out the best in everyone around her. Jean was born in Sudan, Texas to Ivy and Alice Rolan, she was the 6th of 8 children. She is survived by her loving husband Bill, of 60 years, daughters Debi Chappell, Colleen Jones (husband Ken), Carol Williamson (husband Chuck), sons Doug Chappell (wife Pam) and Danny Chappell (wife Melanie), 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sisters Ravenell Young, Jimmie Cox, Cindy Chesnutt and one brother, David Rolan. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother and grandson Tanner Chappell. She grew up in Phoenix. Jean married Bill in1953 and they raised their 5 children in Mesa. Jean was a current member of Desert Sands Church of Christ. Jean graduated from Arizona State University after having 5 children, she went on to teach special education at Baseline Christian School and also drove the school bus picking up children on her way to school, she worked as a medical assistant, while living in Japan,m Jean taught English to Japanese business men and Bill worked for Motorola, she taught many ladies Bible classes. Jean's list of friends are worldwide, she will be greatly missed by all who have been blessed to know her. Jean's selfless dedication to assist any of her friends or family is legendary. We have lost a wonderful wife, mother and friend too soon. Each of us will lose a part of ourselves, but our lives have been immeasurably enriched by knowing her. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 10th at 11:00a.m. at Mesa Church of Christ, 1223 East Dana Avenue Mesa, Arizona 85204.
