Joan Frances Mary Damien Obituary
Damien, Joan Frances Mary (Gober)
went to be with her Lord on February 25, 2013 after bravely fighting a long illness. She was born in Apache, Oklahoma on November 5, 1932 to Howard and Catherine Gober. She is survived by her son Jon Treacy, brother Wayne Gober (Beverly), niece Karen Gober Lashley, and great nephew Marc Scott. Joan moved to Arizona with her family at age 5, attending Wilson Elementary School and Phoenix Union High School. Joan's intellect, independent spirit, and strong work ethic helped her become successful in all of her life long endeavors. She loved learning and earned degrees from Phoenix College and then Arizona State University later in life. Joan's love of her family was exceeded only by her love of her God and her Church. She attended Mass faithfully every day at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Parish, even though it was physically difficult for her to do so. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who will always remember her love, compassion, selfless giving, and her great faith in God. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Parish, 2312 E. Campbell Ave., Phoenix, AZ with burial to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th St., Phoenix, AZ 85008. Memories and condolences may be made by visiting the online obituary Guest Book at Arrangements entrusted to Queen of Heaven Catholic Mortuary.
