Obituary Condolences

Palumbo, Joseph
passed away peacefully on Dec 9, 2012 with his family by his side. He was born April 16, 1927 in Monaca, PA. He was very proud of his military service and was a WWII and Korean Navy veteran. He was a graduate of Arizona State University, and an avid Sun Devil football fan. He was a dedicated teacher and coach at Palo Verde Elementary School, where he retired after 31 years of service. He served as a volunteer fireman for the Palo Verde Volunteer Fire Department. He was a licensed HAM radio operator and participated in the Broadway Consumers and Navy MARS Radio System for many years. Joe was a devout Catholic, which led him to become a 4th Degree Knights' of Columbus. He was a devoted father and grandfather who always provided for his family and cared deeply for his friends. He is survived by his wife, Joan M. Palumbo of 58 years, his sons Joe E. Palumbo, John (Kris) Palumbo, Jim Palumbo, and Jeff Palumbo; grandchildren, Michael and Rachel Palumbo; and sister Francis (Herb) Davis. He was preceded in death by his father Guiseppe Palumbo, mother Amalia Palumbo, and brothers John and Bill Palumbo. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm with a rosary at 6:30 pm, Wednesday, Dec 12 at the Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave, Glendale, AZ. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, Dec 13 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 3140 N. 51st Ave, Phoenix, AZ. Interment will follow at
Holy Cross Cemetery, 10045 W. Thomas Rd, Avondale, AZ. In lieu of flowers,
