Betty Norris passed away February 1, 2013, after losing her courageous fight against a sudden illness at the age of 73 in Mesa, AZ. She was born in Utica, NY to Leonard D. Helmer and Helen Gutchess Helmer. She married Robert "Rusty" I. Norris on December 31, 1967 in Las Vegas, NV; Rusty predeceased her in 1980. She is survived by brothers William L. Helmer (Gail) of Old Forge, NY; Thomas E. Helmer (Linda) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and brother-in-law Charles K. Hopsicker, husband of predeceased sister, Catherine E., Mesa, AZ. Betty also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, step grandchildren, grand nieces, and grand nephews and a countless number of dear friends. Betty attended college at Stephens College in Columbia Missouri. She worked at ASU for 31 years as a program coordinator and records clerk. After her retirement in 2007 she volunteered as a desk clerk at ASU. She was also a board member of her housing complex "Colonial Manor". She loved having her cup of coffee in the morning and reading the local paper. She also loved her cats, going to the movies, reading and doing crossword puzzles. A Memorial service will be held at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Rd. Scottsdale, AZ on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Noon, reception to follow at Colonial Manor Club House.
