Slowinski, Maciej "Mock"
The Guest Book is expired.
37 of Phoenix AZ received his angel wings on November 29th, 2013 leaving behind a loving family and countless lives that he has touched. Mock was born in Bilogard, Poland on October 13, 1976 to Wladyslaw and Alina Slowinski. He, with his brother and mother immigrated to the United States in 1987 when he was 11 years old to reunite with their father. He quickly made friends, learned English and took the wrestling mat by storm. He even learned to play the Alto saxophone and was part of the school band at Cordova Elementary School. Mock graduated from Alhambra High School in 1995 where he excelled in football and wrestling. He played running back and linebacker for the Alhambra Lions. Mock was granted an athletic scholarship to Phoenix College where he went on to play football for two years. He graduated from Arizona State University in 2001 with a Bachelor's degree in nursing. He made the ASU Dean's List for outstanding scholars in the Fall of 2000 with a GPA of 3.58. Mock practiced as a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix for over 10 years until his passing. He was well respected and loved by the staff, nurses, doctors and his patients. He quickly advanced into leadership roles at St. Joe's Hospital where he worked as a supervisor on the lung transplant unit. Upon first glance Mock may have appeared tough but within moments it was clear that his heart was even bigger than his muscles. He was a loyal son, brother, uncle, friend and had a heart of gold, quick with, sarcastic humor and infectious smile that won over everyone he met. He loved every aspect of life and lived it to the fullest. Mock loved to play pranks, crack jokes and never took himself too seriously. He loved to travel, snow board, hike, cross fit, and his softball team "The Wild Things". Most of all he loved his family, friends, and his English Pointer dog named Marley. He was so full of happiness and laughter it was impossible to be in a bad mood around him. Regardless of the situation if Mock was around people were happy and laughing. Although he acclimated to the American ways, Poland was always home, he treasured his annual trips home and the time with his family, his adventures with his cousins, and of course all the cabbage rolls and pierogies he could get his hands on. While his time here was short, his impact on everyone around him was immeasurable. His laughter, smile, fashion sense, dance moves, and most of all his love - lives on within our hearts. Mock is survived by his parents Wladylsaw and Alina Slowinski; brother Filip and sister-in-law Josie Slowinski; as well as nephew & niece Sebastian and Isabel Slowinski of whom he was a beloved God Father; step nephew and niece Joseph and Gabby. He will be forever missed by his large family in Poland; cousins, uncles, and aunts, countless friends, co workers, crossfit family and truly anyone who was ever lucky enough to have known him, because to have known him is to have loved him.
