75 of Glendale, passed away on October 9, 2013. Miles Galen Hughes, 75, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013. Miles was born May 24, 1938 to Miles and Evelyn (Graff) Hughes in Ironton, Ohio, the second oldest of 6 children. He attended South Charleston High School, where he met his beautiful future wife Rochelle Dehainaut, graduating in 1956. Miles enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly after high school in 1956, and was married to Rochelle in 1957. During his military career, Miles worked as an aircraft systems technician, first on the F-100, then the F-105 and later on the F-4 aircraft. He finished his career as a member of the Maintenance Support Analysis Team. He earned a Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam during 1970 through 1971, two Meritorious Service Medals and retired as Chief Master Sergeant from Luke Air Force Base, Arizona in 1980. During their 24 year tour in the Air Force, Miles and Rochelle raised three sons, Miles Galen Hughes II, Joel Eric Hughes and Timothy Colin Hughes. Following his retirement from active duty, Miles went to work for Sperry Flight Systems, later Honeywell, were he worked on avionics and air frame technologies. He continued his education as well, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree from Arizona State University in 1985. Miles completed additional training and in 1997 was certified as an Airworthiness Representative for the Federal Aviation Administration, and in 2003 was appointed as the Arizona Designated Airworthiness Representative working directly for the FAA, a position which he both loved and excelled at and held until his death in 2013. Miles is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Rochelle, along with three children; son Miles and Barbara Hughes of Phoenix, Arizona, son Joel Hughes of Phoenix, Arizona, and son Timothy and Sheila Hughes of Las Vegas, Nevada. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Beverly Faye Hughes, Miles Galen Hughes III, Timothy Colin Hughes II, David Eric and Ashley Brooke Hughes, Stephanie Ann and Colin Clark, and James Besco Hughes; and two great-grandchildren; Michael Jacob VanBuren and Shyann Faye Gharrity Four Siblings; Rose Byrd, Gary and Carol Hughes, Patrick Hughes, and Russel and Barbara Hughes, and many other loving relatives, nephews and nieces.Miles was preceded in death by his Parents, Miles Besco and Evelyn Hughes, and a sister, Carol Hughes. Arrangements were handles by Heritage Funeral Chapel.
