Lemieux, Milton L. (Lt Col, USAF, Ret)
took his last flight into the wild blue yonder on 12/31/13 at the age of 88. Born in Douglas, AZ, he was the only child of Morris J and Pauline (Schneider) Lemieux. After growing up in Ajo AZ, he joined the Army Air Corps in 1943. He proudly served as a bombardier on B-24s in the 400th Bombardment Squadron (Black Pirates) of the 90th Bomb Group (Jolly Rogers) in the South Pacific. He then trained to fly the F-86D (SabreJet) and was a member of the 496th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (Devil Dogs). In 1971, after 28 years of service, he and his wife Bille retired to the White Mountains of Arizona, near the village of Greer. An avid golfer, he played throughout his retirement. He was predeceased by his parents and his wife of 57 years, Bille. He is survived by his feline companion SabreJet, his daughter Mary (Sal) Fiore, his son "Jiggs" (Jill) Lemieux, 5 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Elite Home Health Care, Desert
Oasis Hospice, and Barton House for making his last months as comfortable as possible. Military honors will be conducted at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on Friday May 2 at 1pm.
