Sheiner, Neal Jeffrey
Neal Jeffrey Sheiner, 58, passed away in his home, Monday December 3, 2012 of heart trauma. He was born June 3, 1954 in Queens, New York and spent his formative years in Wantagh, graduating from Springfield Gardens High School. Neal was a graduate of Arizona State University having earned his bachelor's degree in Interior Design in 1977. Through his 35-year career in architecture and design in Phoenix, Neal's steadfast dedication to his community was unsurpassed. Chief among them were the Fiesta Bowl, where he served over three decades in a number of leadership roles, the Boys and Girls Clubs and the Silent Witness Program, with his recently concluding term as President. In all of Neal's community work, his leadership, commitment and contributions were visionary, strategic, and immeasurable. From his professional network to his community involvement, Neal's absence will be deeply felt. Phoenix has lost one of its finest ambassadors.An avid sports fan who loved following his teams, Neal could be counted on to cheer for his hometown Yankees, the Giants, the Rangers and of course his Alma Mater ASU, not to mention each of Arizona's professional sports teams. Neal was preceded in death by his parents Irving and Muriel Sheiner. He is survived by his beloved significant other Julie Kirschner, Phoenix; children Samantha and Alexander Jeffrey "AJ", Phoenix; former wife of 25 years, Marla Sheiner, San Francisco; brother Dr. Alan Sheiner, New Canaan, CT; Aunt Shirley Sheiner, NY; cousins Harriet Sheiner Hall, Florida, and Bobby, Kim, Jana and Brandon Sheiner, Whitestone, NY.A traditional Jewish service will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Cemetery, 305 S. 35th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85009, on Friday December 7th at 10 am. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Phoenix Country Club, 2901 North 7th Street.
