Norm Snider, 87, finished his journey through this life on February 4, 2014. He was born in Long Beach, California and graduated from Huntington Beach High School in 1944. He joined the Navy where he instructed at the rifle range in Farragut, Idaho and worked in the fleet post office in Hawaii. In 1950 he joined the Air Force Reserves and was called to active duty in Korea. He was a gunner in a B-26 and was shot down and captured in April 1951. He was a prisoner of war in North Korea until the armistice in August 1953. Once home, he married and had two children. He graduated from the University of California at Long Beach in 1958 and went to work for the Los Angeles County Probation Department where he met his wife, Kathleen. They were married in 1969 and enjoyed 44 years together. Norm was known for his love of tap dancing, working out at the gym, and driving hot, fast cars. Norm is survived by Kathleen; his daughter, Lisa Blake (and her husband, Phil), his son, David Snider; grandchildren, Dallas and Remy Terrell, Wyatt Blake, Britt and Kalli Snider and step grandchildren Jesse and Colette Blake.
