Weaver, Obie B.
78, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2014 in Mesa, AZ. He was born in Crab Orchard, KY on 1/13/ 1936. He came to Arizona from Ohio in 1959, with his wife, Mildred, and son, Mark. They made their home in Tempe and then had two daughters, Cheryl and Kim. Obie served in the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict and later was active in his community with the Jaycees, Kiwanis and was a reserve officer with the Arizona DPS. He served as Commander at the American Legion Post 2 in Tempe. Obie began working in the insurance field in 1964 as an agent with Prudential, and later formed his own agency in Tempe and grew that into a successful business with the help of his family. He worked until 1999, when he sold the agency and retired. He married his second wife, Sara, in 2007 and they enjoyed the retired life, spending time between homes in Mesa and Payson. Those who knew Obie will remember him for his generosity, his sense of humor, his willingness to help when he could. He was an honest man, a patriot to his country, and was always proud of his kids and grandkids. He will be missed but will be in our hearts and memories. Surviving Obie, are Mildred and their three children, Mark (Susan), Kim (Darryl), and Cheryl; his four grandchildren, Christopher, Emily, Kedrick (named after Obie), Kami, and one great grand daughter. Siblings Bea, Kenneth and Anna; several nieces and nephews; Sara and her children Mike (Cheryl), Diana (Pat), four grandchildren-Alan, Louie, Mikey and Sara and eight great grandchildren. There will be a memorial celebration for Obie with friends and family in March, with details to follow at a later date.
