Paul Allen Stough Obituary
Stough, Paul Allen
was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Charles S. and Blanche A. Stough. The family moved to Illinois where Paul and his brother Chuck spent their boyhood. The young family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1931. A few years after Paul graduated from North High in 1939, he was accepted into West Point where he graduated in 1945. As an officer he served in post-war Germany guarding Nazi officers in Nurnburg, ran a military prison in Bad Tolz, taught infantry classes at Fort Lewis, and fought in Korean War in 1950. In North Korea, he was wounded and received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. After recovering from his wounds, Paul transferred to La Rochelle France where he met Dorothy J. Edwards and they were wed by the local town mayor. When Paul and Dot moved to Georgia, they had one son, Dan. In 1961 the family moved to Scottsdale, AZ where they lived ever since. He retired from the military in 1961 to raise his son and participate in community activities with Dot. The family built a cabin where Paul and Dot spent 25 summers, made friends and appreciated the beauty of southwest Colorado. Mr. Fixit did his best to right all wrongs, travelling 3500 miles to do it. Paul was always there for family whenever they needed a hand and regarded all of their close friends as family. Paul passed on August 15th and survived by son Dan and daughter-in-law, Caryl. He will be missed. A memorial service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of AZ, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix on Fri, August 22, 2014 at 10:30 am.
