Richard "Dick" Widmaier, 82, passed away, Monday November 18, 2013. He was born March 29, 1931, to Mary Lillian and Carl Widmaier of Columbus, Ohio. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas high school in Columbus as well as Franklin College and Ohio State University. At the beginning of the Korean War, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. As an Airman, he was stationed at William's Air Force Base in Mesa, Arizona. He met Jane, the woman of his dreams at a dance at St. Mary's High School while serving our country. They married in Celina, Ohio and after the war relocated to Phoenix where he worked as manager for St. Agnus Church. He later opened one of the first Jack in the Box restaurants in the valley. He later owned and operated Dick's Big Mouth Hamburgers, Jimmy Jack's Restaurant, and the Ranch House Restaurant. In his later years he and Jane owned and operated D&J Income Tax services in Peoria. He was an active member of St. Louis the King Catholic Church and former board member of Bourgade Catholic High School. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Jane and great grandson Jayden Vincent Taylor. He is survived by his sons, Michael, David, and Daniel Widmaier; daughter, Karen Widmaier McHugh, brother James Widmaier, 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Viewing will be held Sunday, November 24, 2013, 2 p.m. followed by Rosary service at 4 p.m., at Menke Funeral Home in Sun City. Funeral service is scheduled for Monday, November 25, 2013, 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Sun City.
