Robert Mercier Cournoyer Jr. Obituary
Cournoyer, Robert Mercier Jr.
Bob was born in Long Beach, CA on Aug. 31, 1947 and passed away on July 7, 2014 in Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Janeave Cournoyer. He is survived by his sister, Jennifer Sieb, her husband Gary, and his nephews Robert and Clayton, all of Coppell, TX. Bob is also survived by cousins Sandy Wright, of Columbia, SC, Greg Griffin of Key Largo, FL, and DeLisa Rudock of Dallas, TX. His California family also survives him: Uncle Phil Poulen, cousins Greg Poulen and Lisa McKinnon. Bob is also survived by his ex-wife, Linda Scott, of Dallas, TX. As a teenager, Bob was very active at Midway Hills Christian Church in Dallas. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson HS, attended Texas A&M Univ. and SMU. Back in the day, he was an avid Dallas Blackhawks fan. Always a Cowboys fan! A major highlight in Bob's life was many years singing with the internationally-renowned "Vocal Majority". Bob moved to Phoenix and worked for many years as a cartographer for Wide World of Maps. He retired four years ago and became active in the B.P.O.E. Phoenix Elks Lodge #335. He especially enjoyed heading up the Wednesday night "Steak Fry"! Bob was truly a "unique" individual and will be missed by many. A casual celebration of Bob's life will be held Wednesday, July 16th, during the "Steak Fry" at the Elks Lodge, 14424 N. 32nd St. in Phoenix. In memory of Bob, a donation to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis would be his wish.
