I have known Bob since 1981, 33 years. We reconnected in 2003 and have had lunch together every month or two since then. I did not find out about his passing until February this year. He reached out to me last July about his illness and I was never able to contact him after that. He was a wonderful person. I always came away from our lunch dates with a smile and a chuckle. We agreed on everything! I miss him very much.

Bob was a wonderful guy, and I very much enjoyed the time I got to spend with him. I had worked with him on a number of occasions over the years when he worked for the Interior Department, but we had just reconnected as friends. I will miss him very much.

Bob was a unique and amazing fellow. No matter the legal, policy or societal issue, Bob brought a new, fresh way of poking holes in the conventional wisdom or standard approach. Loved life, loved to laugh, and a great storyteller. He'll be missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

I just now found out today Sept. 3rd,from a mutual friend of Bob's in the BIA's trust dept., that Bob had left us.I knew Bob for many years beginning when he was in the Solicitors Office in Phoenix in the 1980s.We would have many funny conversations about our respective personal lives and of course the many different Indian law issues we were involved in. He was alot of fun personally and intellectually and I missed him when he left DOI for greener pastures. I am sure he is joyfully sailing the Heavens now.

As a neighbor of Bob's for many years, he was genuine and a better neighbor cannot be found. Bob always did more than anyone could ever expect of a neighbor and was always willing to help out a neighbor for any reason. Our world has lost someone very, very special.
