passed away July 5, 2014. She was born September 14, 1987 in Montgomery Village, Maryland and, in spite of many personal struggles, accomplished a great deal in her 27 years. She moved away from home at 16, finished high school and then attended Arizona State University while working full time. In 2009 she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. In 2011 she earned a Master of Arts in Public Policy. Sam was passionate about animal welfare, human rights, civil rights & social action, politics, and the environment. She worked for the Girls Scouts, UMOM Day Centers and Maricopa Community Colleges, handling public relations and marketing. She excelled in her profession and was often honored for the outstanding quality of her work. At the time of her death Sam was finishing her memoir and hoped to have it published soon. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Carlos Perez, their dog, Pico, and all who knew her. Stay golden, Sam.
